Helidrop

Sunday June 11, 2006

Well we hope you are all out riding as much as you can, fitting in your soulfull sessions most necessary to your sanity.

Today was an epic adventure for the Hukk crew. We were offered along on a heli-drop organized and run by bushpilotbiking.
We rode epic descents, steep, technical, mind blowing trail lasting six hours.

The Hukk crew has ridden this descent previously, but the painful wall of truth to the top is a good four hours hike & bike, but enjoyable if you are the warped type that enjoys such states.
The helicopter ride was super cool, putting us at a higher elevation with much more energy, at the complete top of the mountain with a 360 degree panorama view, in the snow, which was totally rideable, adding much descending to the fall.
The trails were steep, technical, demanding, fresh, and forever. The forest was out of some fantasy world and the rockfaces were a definite highlight.
The only thing that made it even better was the fresh keg of beer at the bottom where we sat around and digested what just happened to us.

Come on in and take a Hukk out for a test ride, just call and book an appointment for a taste of this powder machine.
If you like it, pick your paint and add your existing frame set.

Keep riding.
The Hukk crew

Congratulations to Hukk rider Ken Maude on his recent engagement.

A big shot out to Smoke & Barb from www.bushpilotbiking.com Very professional and fun crew, sounds like they have some cool rides on the firepit and custom is what they do best, so get your mind going and give them a call, you will not be disappointed.

Kamloops Full Boar Challenge '05

Whoah, where to start...

What a great week end!

Drove up with Chris Cooney and Stephen Wilde late friday night.
We pulled in to the Greenstone camping site to find Trevor and co sipping a few cold ones around a blazing fire. Stephen and I decided to pitch our tents, while Chris set up his van before chiling around the fire.
A few beers later we hoped into our sleeping bags, long week end in front of us!

Was going to save my energy for the DH on sunday, but seeing as the XC course was short and sweet, decided to race it after all. After a couple of cups of freshly ground coffee (thanks Chris!), Mitchell and I headed over to the start line. First the groms, then us. To Trevor's signal, we took off... Brandon, myself and Mitchell taking the lead. The course was fun: a mix of loamy singletrack, a few rooty climbs, fast 'pinning it' doubletrack, short steep tacky climbs, muddy off camber traverses and minimal fire road sections. Under an hour later, Brandon punched through the finish line first, 40 seconds later it was my turn, and Mitchell rounded out the top three. Good times!

Sat afternoon was spent just hanging out around the camp fire, socializing with the cute registration girls, and just having a good time. In the meanwhile Chris went motoing in the hills.
That night: NWD movie premiere, rewards ceremony, bonfire, lots of beer...

Sunday morning, Stephen, Mitchell, myself and a few others got a first and last pre race run. Thanks to Brian for the shuttle!
What an unreal course... i was blown away. A perfect mix of all you could imagine: gnarly slimy steeps, fast loamy singletrack, high speed drifting sweepers, ruts galore, some hike-a-bikes, rocks, roots, ...!
Few hours later, back to the top of the hill, a few minutes until my run. Mitchell dropped in first. A minute and a half later my turn to go. Sketchy run, went off line in the steeps, went off course up a fireroad, but tried to make up some time on the pedally parts... either way, was very stoked to race on such a wicked course!

Ended up being the last of the only four times under twenty minutes, behind Derek, Joe and Johnathan.

The Full Boar Challenge 05 was a complete success. We all had a blast.

BIG THANKS to the Full Boar Crew for organizing such a great event! Trevor and all the volunteers did an awsome job at having everything run smoothly! Props!

The HUKK Team is looking very much forward to next year's event and to hang out with the Full Boar Crew in '06!

The first of many chronicles to come! We are stoked to be able to share our rides, latest product developments and all other HUKK related content with HUKK fans all over the world!

Last day of 2005 for the Cypress bike park. Crisp late summer day, ground was tacky; Stephen Wilde and I had a great ride. The Cypress bike park offers a variety of trails to please riders of all levels: from steep and loamy to fast and hard packed, wall rides and a mix of jumps, Cypress definitely has a lot to offer.

Props to Digger and the Cypress Park crew!
We are looking forward to riding more up there next summer!

Heading over to Kamloops for the Full Boar Challenge 05 tonight. Looking forward to the 20 min downhill race on sunday!

Stay tuned for pictures of the week end!
